  Objectives

I. To initiate a series of global pilgrimages to connect with networks of women who are committed to equitable peace, spirituality and social justice.

II. To organize and facilitate a series of structured Conversations with such women in the United States, India, South America and the Middle East. And, as often as is possible and feasible, to meet and be with women where they live and work.

III. To foster alliances among women with whom we have engaged in conversations in grassroots initiatives, international women’s organizations, and educational institutions, with whom we discover shared values and principles. To engage in the mutual exchange of ideas, strategies, spiritual concepts, and social principles. To develop reciprocal programs that include service, education, and the arts.

  Methodology

The Pilgrimage Project will identify resources, explore venues, collect information and initiate contact with women in educational institutions, grassroots initiatives and local and international organizations in each of the proposed host countries.

Pilgrimage Project Conversations will be hosted by local women’s groups and/ or organizations with whom we have begun an active alliance.

Conversations will take place in informal clusters and in modules ranging from one to three days.

Women from grassroots organizations in the various countries will be invited to participate in the Pilgrimage and the Conversations. Funding will be sought to facilitate the continued diversity of participants.

When and where possible The Pilgrimage Project will arrange additional cultural exchange meetings with various indigenous women’s populations and those living in spiritual communities.

Pilgrimages, Conversations, and meetings will be documented by audio tape, photographs and, where appropriate and technically feasible on video.

Projected Pilgrimage destinations include the United States, India, South America and the Middle East.

Issues covered in Conversations may include spiritual practices, education, women's work, equity issues, environment, war, sexuality, violence, health care, the arts as an agent for creating social change, alliances, and healing.

The Pilgrimage Project will engage in site visits, networking initiatives, and information development and dissemination,

The Project will seek funding in a variety of initiatives to provide internships, and scholarships for women in underserved populations.
